hold up - it is 2006, right?

This in from nk, and we shared a few head shakes on msn typetalking about it.

Seems another female firefighter in BC has come forward about sexual harassment and violent behaviour by her male co-workers in Richmond, BC. The first launched her suit last summer, and she charged in her statement of claim that
...other firefighters cut off the water supply to a hose she was using to battle a blaze, put human feces in her boots and pants, and displayed hard-core pornography in her presence.
Another firefighter filed a discrimination complaint with the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal, making the total up to four - and they're all off the job (one already outright quit the force).

A total of four women firefighters in Richmond are off the job, citing widespread sexual harassment and discrimination.

Apparently, the city is trying to have everything dealt with via a collective agreement outside of the court system.

There's a viewpoint article from the cbc.ca page that outlines how in this day in age, this kind of harassment is largely considered to be imagined. Then she breaks down just how common it actually is...

Actually, where I am, it's more like 1986, where you can still smoke in a bar and children can sell cigarettes.
