launch

Another first for me today: a book launch where my name was actually on the cover of the text of the hour. Despite blazing winds and icy rain and treacherous sidewalks and dangerous roads and late buses, there was a good crowd in the house and a damn fine time was had by all. Coolest was the number of students who came out to represent - they formed a large possé that brought the party to a bar afterwards...making me feel like I helped facilitate a little bit of cohort-building for what I hope becomes the next generation of women's studies students at the Institute.

The foulness of the weather really can't be exaggerated, with news anchors and DJs imploring people to stay indoors. That so many people (50? 60?) crammed into that small space for the launch is a testament to the strength and potential of your fantastic book.
