sleepin' in and feelin' foul

Oversleeping - especially for someone who has a bizarre relationship with sleep in general and never gets enough - is usually a pretty decadent thing. You wake with the fuzzy, dopey kind of feeling that doesn't go away until you've downed copious amounts of caffiene, and spend the remainder of the day feeling not terribly bad about being a bit behind schedule. After all, sleep is productive, right? I did that this morning (accidentally) and WOW did I wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Übergrump. Maybe it's because it's the end of the month and bills are due. Maybe it's because the ever-protective Microsoft corp. made me clear off this disaster of a desk to flip my computer around to find a 25-digit authentication number before I could get an update for an error message informing me of a problem that Microsoft assures me will do no damage to my system files last night. Or maybe it's because my inbox is overstuffed with must-get-to-soon emails. Or maybe it's because Freddy was relentlessly digging his claws into me to get a taste of my breakfast cereal. Or maybe it's because payroll screwed up my cheque and can't get back to me about it until Monday. Or, or, or. Hell, maybe it's because we're out of milk. Who knows. The Straight Dope tells me sleepin' in and feelin' foul are the perfectly natural result of not having sleep debt and oversleeping. But I recall not too long ago seeing a news bit that said that sleep debt was a myth. Hm. So much for getting out of the hole...

Note: Astrologers have noted that "From May 27 to June 2 we’ll all be under the influence of a T-square between Venus, Mars and Pluto, meaning everyone will be on their biggest, loopiest emotional roller coaster." So maybe it's all just in the stars...

Fascinating (and oh so pertinent to my life)... but what does it mean when you wake up everyday at 7am on the dot, regardless of when you go to sleep? Seriously, I'm starting to hey freaked out by the whole "morning" thing...

My mom always says that as you age you seem to need less and less sleep. So my question to you is, are you able to roll over and go back to sleep? If no, then I'd be a bit worried...

Thank you, David Lynch. :)

Does something happen at 7 am every day maybe? Something that's just loud or disruptive enough to wake you without leaving any memory of its occurrence? Is there a garbage truck passing by, or a newspaper thumping down onto the floor out in the hallway?
